Mixed Use Feasibility
Designed for one of our current clients, we explored this project to determine if the site and location would be feasible for a mixed-use development to include retail on the ground floor and residential on the upper floors with either a rooftop restaurant or Penthouse. The concept was to embrace the corner site and it’s close proximity to the coast. Being located adjacent a busy road, setting back and creation of public space was important and something Studio Linear identified early on in the concept stage. The interesting and scaled down massing of the façade was intentional. The massing to blend with the low-key surrounding buildings and the façade materials and look to brighten up the current mundane architecture found adjacent to the project. Unfortunately, the project did not go ahead as the land acquisition was withdrawn by the seller. Pity, as it would have been an iconic building for its area and truly would have revitalised a neighbourhood that desperately required it. If the site is ever available again, we hope to be the Architects involved in taken the project forward.
