Studio Linear, An award-winning practice, was founded by husband and wife, steven & Ilze whom have collective experience in Residential, Retail, Office, Education, Mixed Use, Aviation and Transportation projects. In 2022, Clare Smith joined the practice to add her experience of Hotels, Interior Design & a strong background in Sustainability to the studio’s portfolio. Projects range in size from £20,000 to £1 Billion, but regardless of size and value, they pride themselves in attention to detail. Every project is treated as unique and is given the utmost attention. This results in quality design and delivery at every scale.

With experience from working in award winning Architectural practices over the last 17 years, such as ‘Hix Architects’ (South Africa), ‘Sprunt Ltd’ (London), ‘MSMR Architects’ (London), ‘HOK International’ (London) and ‘EPR Architects’ (London) we have developed a keen eye for detail and quality design both in Architecture and Interiors.

We aim to respond to the clients’ specific needs whilst advising them of other options and inspiration along their initial brief. We insist that the client must be involved through the project to achieve the best and most creative interpretation of their brief.

Design quality comes from finding the cleanest, simplest solution to each individual problem. This achieves beautiful Architecture that radiates simplicity.

I’m a South African qualified Architect and a Chartered member of RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).

With 3 years experience in South Africa and over 8 years experience in the UK. Whilst in the UK I was an Associate at Sprunt Architects in London. Throughout my career I have worked on various sectors in the industry including: Mid Income & High end Residential, Education, Retail, Sport Stadiums and Mixed Use.

I’m a South African qualified Architect with over 10 years experience in the UK.

Whilst in the UK I worked at International firms, leading projects in various sectors from Mixed Used developments, Retail, Aviation & Transportation to Education.

I’m a qualified & registered South African & Mauritian Architect with over 21 years of experience in South Africa & Mauritius.

Passionate about Sustainable Design, I managed to obtain my Green Star Accreditation certificate in South Africa before moving to Mauritius. I have had the pleasure of working on a wide variety of projects in Mauritius from Hotel Design & Refurbishment, High End Villas, Development Schemes, Interior Design & Commercial Projects.
